Wood is a magnificent building material with huge decorative potential. But her high vulnerability in relation to external influences from ancient times forced a person to look for various ways to protect wooden structures.
It is necessary to protect the tree not only from fire and atmospheric influences, but from mold and mushrooms, from insects that even live trees destroy with easily. And if more recently, besides oil paint and olifa, there were no means to combat these misfortunes, today the market is simply flooded with various impregnations. And since the oil paint, as well as Olifa, are devoid of antiseptic properties, they dry for a long time and do not have highly usual properties, let’s dwell on the impregnations. You can buy equipment for woodworking here.
Impregnations are available on the basis of alkyd resins and on a water-dispersion basis.
The latter are mainly used to protect the tree indoors, since they differ in the absence of any odors, dry quickly, forming a “breathing” decorative film. Alkyd impregnations are used for external work. They perfectly emphasize the texture of wood, often find use to simulate valuable rocks. Such impregnations, due to the presence in their composition of white spirit, reliably protect wood from mold and mushrooms.
For proper processing of a wooden surface, it is necessary to clean it of dirt and old paintwork, roll and cover with several layers of impregnation.
Do not process wood at temperatures below +5 and above +40 degrees Celsius.
