Oddly enough, in the age of high technology and the ability to acquire almost everything, the so-called Shebbi-Shik (shabby shine) came into fashion). Artificially aged things can be seen in almost any house. Apparently, a fast pace of life tires, and the soul requires home comfort and a calm, leisurely atmosphere of a grandmother’s house. It is not necessary to look for old things in stores and flea markets, you can well make them yourself. We suggest you make a plate (or a whole service) in the technique of decoupage, with the effect of “aging”.
You will need:
• wooden blank of plate (dishes);
• color printout with patterns for gzhel or crest or napkins for decoupage with the right motives;
• varnish for two -phase crackeletes;
• brushes;
• sandpaper;
• PVA glue and glue for glass;
• sponge for washing dishes.
First cover the workpiece with light acrylic paint and dry. Cut the printout or separate the layer of napkins with a pattern. Dilute PVA glue in a ratio of 1: 1 water and glue the paper to the plate. If the folds appear, after the glue dries, roll them with fine sandpaper.
For antiquity effect, use two -phase varnish. Apply the first layer, wait 20 minutes, and apply the second layer with strokes in different directions. The product should dry at least a day. In the small cracks that appear after drying the second layer, rub the dark oil paint with a napkin. So they will stand out stronger against the background of the plate.
After two hours, wash the upper layer of varnish with cold water. After drying, cover the product with a fingering varnish. The larger the layers of varnish, the stronger the effect of aged ceramics.
It remains to attach a wire hook to the back of the plate if you want to hang it on the wall. Several plates or dishes, in this way, will look great in a sideboard or on a shelf as a decorative element of the interior.
